Farewell 2009

On 22nd August 2009, the Form 4s organised a Farewell for all the Form 5 Rangers! Their theme was The Happy Ending and some of the OC wore lovely dresses while others wore vests with pants. They started off by singing and dancing. And they also let us blow out candles.

Then Cai Yun, the chairlady, gave her speech.

Then The Form 3s acted out Part 2 of their sketch from ATC '09. 三只小猪.

Ahem.. I mean 四只小猪....

And a seriously pong Ah Pong!

Next, the Form 1s performed a song and a dance.

And then the Form 2s performed a modern dance.

Then, the Form 3s sang some songs.

And we got a cake! I forgot why....

After that was lunch time! Wang Mama's food with cake.

After some fooling around and toilet breaks, the show continued with a fashion show!

Modern Cooking Competition

Last Saturday, 25 July 2009, we held the Modern Cooking competition. Each patrol had their own theme and they had to cook food related to their respective themes. Here are some pictures of the invitations we got and the food they cooked. Most of the food tasted good!

CLHS Gathering

Every school had to make a souvenir so that they could be exchanged with another school and the souvenir made by our Form 4 rangers was definitely special and unique.

Campfire!

Ok first of all I would like to apologize for taking so long to blog about our Ranger campfire, really sorry....

Now, to get things started, I'll show you how to get into the campfire. Watch this.

The theme for the night was Rebirth Of The Venetian Carnival and take a look at our beautiful Mistresses of Ceremony, Lorene and Khai Ling!

A few ex-Rangers also came back to see us!

The night started off with the dance performed by the Form 2 Guides, followed by other schools' performances.

Then it was time for the Fire-Lighting ceremony! Pn Khaw and Mr Lau lit the campfire!

After that, the MC's went around getting each school or group to yell some youss for the other performances.

Halfway between the other performances, the OC performed their dance/fashion show while the rest of us had fun!

Then we had a special performance by Deborah, Chern Min and Ming Li! For one night only!

Another song by Deborah accompanied by Woei Jai. Sorry but couldn't take video...

And last but not least was the prize-giving ceremony! Some schools left happy and satisfied whereas others left disappointed...

Meeting Canceled

The meeting for the Items Competition this Saturday has been canceled so please do not come to school and stand there waiting for everybody else to come because NO ONE IS COMING! Just kidding! But seriously, no one else is coming...

St Xavier's Campfire

Last Saturday we attended the St Xavier's Gathering & Campfire. It went on from day 'till night and the Form 4s did tried their best, hanging up the banners, creating a Torch of Light, pushing supporting items to everyone, designing a flag..... Unfortunately, the night didn't end well...

When I got there, the Form 4s were fixing up the Torch of Light and setting up the backdrop for the Campfire.

Then the Sun started to set and we enjoyed the beautiful view... While the scouts started the campfire.

Then the night began and everyone started getting into the mood...

Then it was time for the Torch of Light competition. Iris was in-charge of lighting the Torch but something awful happened! She burned her hand! Check out the video. And Sheng Hui presented the Torch while Iris was getting treated for her burn.

After that, our school performed a dance, followed by a free dance.

At the end of the night, we were given our souvenir and the prize-giving ceremony began. We may not have won the Overall but we got 2nd Runner-Up, Best Discipline, Best Deco and Best flag.

Drilling Competition

Last Saturday, 28 March 2009, we held the Drilling Competition and after making a few announcements, the members had half an hour to practice their marching.

When the time came, we went to the car park to start the competition. Each Bahagian had to march for 10 minutes and in that time, they had to do basic and fancy drilling. Some Bahagians were really funny and made us laugh so that's good!

Next meeting is on 2 May 2009 and the Items Competition will be held then. Good luck, girls!

National Campfire

Last Saturday, 14th March 2009, we attended the National Campfire that was held in SMK Haji Zainul Abidin. The day started out with a bit of rain and when the Sun came out, there was a rainbow!

There were quite a few other schools there too. (sorry about the pictures but I didn't realise until later that my camera was in the wrong mode.)

Everything was already set up by the time we got there and everyone was a given a supporting item to wave around. Someone even managed to get foam hands! We loved those!

When it got dark, it started raining but we kept on partying! But soon the teacher said those that wanted to go home could go home and lots of people left. The rest of us that stayed were soaking wet but we didn't care!

I didn't get any shots of the dancing because it was dark and they were far away.... BUT, I got a picture of the fancy dress!

Banner Competition

Last Saturday, we held our banner competition and I'm pleased to say, all of the banners were nice! Yay! Good job, girls! All 6 patrols laid out their banners and they were given 45 minutes to finish painting their banners. We even had a special guest for the day........ Miss Deborah Thong! I hope you had fun there, Deborah! Come again next time, 28th March, Drilling Competition!

Supporting Item Competition

Last Saturday, 7th January 2009 was the day of the Supporting Item Competition. Members were given half an hour to complete their supporting items. After that, the whole Patrol had to come forward and present what they had made.

Hello again, everybody! Thanks so much for your support! I really appreciate it and I hope you'll like whatever I post next.

Last Saturday, 10 January 2009, the 19th Ranger Unit had their 1st meeting for 2009. all the rules were explained, the committee was introduced, the Campfire and Farewell chairladies and vice-chairladies were chosen and each patrol chose their own patrol name. We also had fun playing some games!

All members arrived at 7.30am and our secretary, Fong Wan Ching divided them into their patrols. Then they took a few minutes to bond and think of patrol names. After that we played the 'Bomb!' game (I think everyone knows what it is) using each patrol's name.

Now, presenting to you..........

Patrol 1: Strickyzz (strike-eezz)

Patrol 2: Phalanx (feh-lhenks)

Patrol 3: Wildz (wild-z)

Patrol 4: Jov-gle (jovv-gell)

A few Form 3s were nominated as chairladies and vice-chairladies for the Campfire and Farewell. After we voted, it was determined that the Campfire Chairlady would be Lim Sheng Hui, her vice, Kok Yuen Lin. Ang Cai Yun would be the Farewell Chairlady and she would be helped by Heng Khai Ling.

1st Meeting

CTC 2008

Guides and Rangers from our school attended this year's Combined Training Camp which was organised by 8th Georgetown (South) Sea Scout Group. It was held from 9th to 14th December 2008 at Penang Free School.

The were 4 patrols which were:

1. Quixotic - PFS Scouts and SGGS Guides

2. Morpheus - PFS Scouts and CGL Guides

3. Novelty - PFS Scouts and CLS Guides

4. Infected - 0 Scouts and PCGHS Guide

This camp may be called Combined Training Camp but there were definitely no boys in our patrol. Our patrol consisted of Guides and Rangers only. Girl Power! And guess what? Even though we didn't have any Scouts in our patrol, we won the Overall Trophy!

Our patrol members were:

1. Kok Yuen Lin [PL]

2. Ang Cai Yun [PS]

3. Ong Ming Li

4. Loh Jing Yi

5. Chuah Yi Pei

6. Lim Sheng Hui

7. Ng Jin Pei

8. Lau Jing Yi

On the first day of pre-camp, Piyi came to help us and we managed to finish building at least 4 gadgets in one day.

The next day, Lihui came to help and we finished nearly all the gadgets. The members and EXCO Tzee Yunn stayed until 11pm at night for these first 2 days to finish building their gadgets. These are the end products.

On the first day of camp, the participants reported in at 8am and they started preparing for their ship, float, banner and flag presentation which was held later in the afternoon. The other members that were not involved continued to tie and improve on their gadgets.

The judges were all impressed when they saw our patrol's float and ship as they were built without help from any of the scouts. Except the TL, Adrian, who helped them start on the ship.

After the explanations, we played some games for Fun Time. I'm sorry but I didn't take any pictures of Fun Time. We had fun playing tug-of-war though. Our patrol nearly won but we ended up losing in the final match with SGGS. (I think. Please tell me if I'm wrong.)

That night, auditions were held for Camp Night. Our Patrol performed 3 dances, a sketch of Snow White and The 7 Dwarves and an advertisement.

The next day was the second day of camp and after reporting in, the members got ready for Morning Inspection. After that, they spent time practising their dances for Camp Night which was to be held that very night. That night, they would also be doing a fashion show and cosplay outfits as well as a song performed by Lim Sheng Hui.

A lot of people came to support us, including many of Rangers and Guides from our school. At the start of the night, the participants gathered around to hear a pep talk from TL, Adrian.

Then, they scrambled to get dressed.

The campfire was lit and everybody sat waiting for the performances to start.

The night started off with dances by the EXCOs. There was a couple dance and an all-girls dance. Then, the MCs, Chris and Julia introduced the first performances.

There were games in between acts and the participants actively joined in.

All too soon, the night was over and everybody but the scouts went home.

The fancy and silent drilling competition was held on the 3rd day of camp. Only Infected patrol and Novelty patrol participated.

The Modern Cooking competition was held after that and while the poor participants were slaving over their hot stoves.........

The EXCOs had a photo-taking session!

After having fun crawling all over the EXCO gateway, the EXCOs were hungry and went looking for food.

Now that everyone had finished eating and clearing up, it was time for cabaran!

PCGHS EXCOs were in charge of the stations outside the scout den (aka Pokemon Centre) which were Electric Fence, Blind Leading and the best station of all....... MUD CRAWL!

The water was so dirty and it contained leftover food from the Modern Cooking competition, oil, eggs and flour. Everybody had soooo much fun at that station!

Tze Bey and I (Myra) even put our legs into the deepest hole.

After washing up (Infected finished all the stations 1st), we got ready for Barbeque night. Everyone got busy, trying to start their fires.

After eating, the PA system was open to dedications and Infected Patrol's PL, Yuen Lin dedicated a song to all of us. 给我一首歌的时间. Of course, that song made people emotional and start crying. Among the crying people were our very own PL Yuen Lin, EXCO Tzee Yunn and member Yi Pei.

Then everybody gathered in front of the stage and started singing together. We knew it was our last night at CTC 2008 and we wanted it to last forever. However, all good things come to an end and we had to leave.

The next day was the last day of camp. When we arrived at our campsite, we saw that all our gadgets were already striked down. Everybody was shocked and angry because even though we knew the scouts striked their gadgets at midnight, we didn't know they would strike ours! We had no scouts in our patrol so we thought we could go on the last day, take more pictures on the gadgets, then only strike them. But the other scouts just tore them down, leaving destruction in their path!

Tzee Yunn got really angry and cried because we were the ones that put all our effort into the gadgets and we wanted to take them down ourselves. But nothing could be done. The gadgets were already down and all we could do was clear them away. I know the scouts meant well when they striked our gadgets, I know they thought they were saving us the time and effort so we could clear up faster. But they were wrong. And as the wise TL said, what's done is done. We just have to deal with it.

And so, we cleared away all the rubbish. But our sadness didn't last that long. We revived ourselves by shouting our Infected slogan to anyone who walked past us. Wanna know what the slogan is?

Then it was time for Final Inspection.

We reported out and the prize-giving ceremony started.

Next, the EXCOs were given tokens of appreciation and after that we got onto the bus and headed to the beach!

We had fun and even threw our PL into the sea.

And so ended our journey at CTC 2008. We learned a lot and gained a lot of memories too. According to my sources (please correct me if I'm wrong), this is the first time PCGHS has won the Overall in CTC in 6 years.

So I just want to tell all the members of Infected, be proud. Be very proud of what you have accomplished. Not many people could have done what you did. You not only completed the entire camp, you even proved yourselves to be the best! You won the Overall without any scouts in your patrol. You represented our entire school when you went to that camp and you made us proud. GO, INFECTED!!!!!
